Just like every other group buy that jasonlee has run, as will this one, im just guaging interest...
it will be as follows: a few members and I will be taking a 97+ rear bumper and having a body shop do a complete job molding a TC1 rear to it... from there the donor rear end will be sent out to an undisclosed shop (jay and i havent talked that over yet) either E.D., Carbon Creations, or someone else just like all the other custom CF work we've had done over the last 2 years... From there depending on interest, complete CF and Duraflex versions will be availible via group buy and im sure complete duraflex versions will be availible via online purchase afterwards... pricing is still unknown, for it is something that was just talked about over the last 2-3 days.. note this will be a COMPLETE bolt on rear end, you will not have to have a body shop do any molding of any sort to get this bumper to fit... this is what every1 has been waiting for.. and for you CF junkies this is your chance to complete your CF body kit.... for you ppl sick of having your body kit re molded or ppl afraid of buying body kits because of the extensive labor shops charge to do the molding, this is your chance to really luck out prices will vary pending interest... but we need to see interest b4 we go and make something happen.... any questions, problems, concerns, opinions feel free to add to the topic.... not that i plan on buying one but i'd suggest something other than the tc1 rear. first off, you'll probably be able to sell more with a new design. second, i don't think the tc1 flows well with the gsx sides that i'm assuming this is ment to go with considering you said for the full carbon set up.
plus the tc1 is just played out and old |

And likewise, the sides only really flow with the tc1 front. A new rear would be your best bet, especially something that would match nicely to the gsx sides. Plus shouldnt this thread be moved to the group buy forum? |

Matt--you already now that I'm down...but I would really like it if the rear flowed perfectly with the GSX side skirts!!! Not sure how the TC1 would look with the skirts?

ic we have a lot of critics for a TC1, so since thats the case, how about some ideas...
remember though the crazier the design the more its going to cost to have a prototype made, which will ultimatly effect the cost of the bumper.... its also a lot easier to critique a design or an idea such as every1 with the monster front bumper... because noone is payin for the design work, fabrication, and finish.... so if you have ideas feel free to share them.... |

Why not do a variation on the TC2 full rear for the Sebring and modify it for use with the Avenger? As far as I know there isn't a single venge sporting this rear.

The tc1 is the full replacement bumper for the Sebring. The tc2 is the add on lip for either car.

I'd be in if it flows well with the gsx skirts ...
I'd rather see something diffuserish like the carbon fiber add on for the eclipse |

so you guys are saying a full replacement TC2 for the avenger, and offer teh TC2 for the sebring in CF for the group buy...
and make sure that the body line will match the GSX side skirts... the height diff between the 2 isnt much i have both sets aka tc1 fiberglass and GSX CF... it cant be more then 1/4 to max 1/2 in. in height... so the problem with making it completly match the GSX is that the TC1 guys will complain it doesnt line up.... so were going to have to come up with some kinda give/take deal here... more opinions welcome btw some1 fill me in as to the diff in the sebring and avenger rears |

bad venge in relation to your comment....
jay and i have contemplated that idea, using CF defusers to blend the CF theme into the rear bumper, but again we would need some sort of design and way to "blend" it into a car that already has a TC1 or TC2 rear skirt or for some1 that just has a stock rear bumper.... |

I've carbon wrapped a TC1 and it just doesn't look great ...
there was a carbon diffuser on ebay that would look awesome but unfortunately it was a scammer ... |

all I care is that it is symmetrical unlike the TC 1. I hate it that people tell me that my exhaust is lower on one side because the skirt isn't cut the same.

what about along the lines of the evo IX JDM rear? bascially the sides would probably be made to match the sideskirts... then in the rear it would go up a little higher across the middle (perfect spot to add a diffuser later)
just another idea... oh and preliminary cost on the rear would be just like the front bumpers... when I originally set up the front bumper buy I talked with E.D. about a rear, and he said bumpers are $425 (CF) and $200(duraflex )for front or back for a group buy. ( regular cost would be around $700 or so for CF and 400 or so for duraflex) JDM evo rear:::: (IMG:http://evasivemotorsports.com/merchant2/graphics/00000001/evorearbumper.jpg) This post has been edited by jasonlee: Aug 1 2007, 05:23 PM |

the evo IX rear bumper is pretty plain... basically a smooth curve then flat around to the back...
now if we get 1 made with out a defuser installed it might look a little awkward.... also what would we do about an exhaust... ibasically have 2 choices my greddy cat back or having piping made for my thermal r&d muffler either way the muffler is like 8" diameter with a 3.5/4" tip how can we incorperate that with the evo bumper without it bouncing around and banging the snot out of the bumper.... |

I'm not so much for a smooth bottom end (on the avenger, but its okay on chicks!). I like the diffusor style rear end that the OEM style has...we should try to keep something like that in the final product. I like WB's suggestion as well, keeping proportional sides for people running a dual exhaust system.

I would be down for something like this. If it flows fairly well with the tc1 sides i would probably be in.

If it flows well w/ tc1 sides.. has simetrical sides for dual exhaust (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_smile.gif)
is this still being attempted anywayS? |

its 100% go as soon as we can work up a few prototypes.... its the last peice to our CF cars so its going to get done one way or another....
either its gonna go like the doors where its just a small core group of 3-5 of us just to get it done and not deal with the small technical nit picks... or its going to go like the bumper where theres 10 ppl that will settle for whats being made... again it comes down to, whoever is willing to put in some effort and time will get a say, if you dont wanna do either then deal with what we got.. the fact is a select few of us are going with complete CF cars, and teh bumper is trying to flow with OUR cars, with SOME give to the rest of the group... the fact is GSX side skirts are abotu 1/2 higher up then TC1s... and no1 wants JUST a TC1 full replacement.. BUT again no1 is willing to cough up a bumper or cough up a design they just want to criticize the ideas that the ppl who do front up ALL THE LABOR MONEY and donate their cars and bumpers designs and ideas... well c how it goes and flows once i get my doors, bumper, and side skirts from jay.. ill be able to see how it flows with the trunk and with my molded tc1 and go from there.... |
