most of us don't go to shows to show our car. we go cus back in the day is was kool to hang out with the club. which i understand gas and costs are a huge factor anymore, but no one cares either. just sayin. if enuff people go i will go. i've already paid for the ticket.

i doubt ill go to the show. im going to hangout at the hotel LOL might hit up hershey park during the day. im not sure yet

What happened to everyone staying at the same hotel?

Those of us with kids prefer (or are required to) stay elsewhere.

Havent you been around? This has been the drama for the last two years...

i brought our kid to the same hotel and have no problem with it. Either that or i don't bring them. Its a vacation.

And that is fine if that is how you choose to raise your child. She is your kid, and that is your right.

This is a family show, and my kids enjoy going - so I bring them when I can. I will not have them around people who are drinking. That is MY choice as a parent. As a parent, I try to make sure that my vacations, whenever possible, include my family. That is also my choice as a parent.

NTM - even tho everyone seems to forget - most people know I am court ordered to stay elsewhere with my kids. NOT at the "asec hotel"

That and we missed the group rate cutoff. If I'm gonna be forced to spend $110+ on a room, it's gonna be a nice room.

Mostly because I shouldn't have to justify my choice of a hotel to every last person who asks.

this just goes to show that carlisle isn't what it once was for this club. I"m sure gas prices and ecomony drops are a big factor anymore too.

that and all this club does is argue anymore! no one can get it togehter cause they all want it thier own way .... if i go it will be with a diff dodge club

I guess the question is - "what was Carlisle representing for this club?"

For some, it was to show off the group as a whole to others and attract new members.

For some, it was to show off in front of 40000 spectators in a field of 2400 show cars.

For others, it was a way to meet up with the other members in one central place.

And for others, it was an excuse to sit in a hotel room and/or on the showfield and drink.

Attendance peaked in/around 2003. I started up ModernMopars to respond to the fact that it was obvious that neither ASOG, ASEC, or Stratusphere (or 2GS, or 2GSS) was going to meet those "tent/group numbers" that we strived for.

Regarding folks staying at different hotels - I myself have only stayed with 'ASEC' for one Carlisle event. And I've stayed with the Stratusphere group for two Carlisle events. The other 10 Carlisle events I attended, I stayed elsewhere.

It has nothing to do with the "club". It has everything to do with my desire to not put myself in a position to deal with adult behavior that I do not wish to be involved in and do not want my kids to be witness to.

I'm sorry that I don't share some of the same "entertainment values" that others do. It's my choice, and I don't force it upon anyone else. And I made the effort to not only see everyone at the show itself, but drove out to the "party hotels" to hang around and participate. Not to mention the effort I put forth in previous years to get people involved and interested in the show. My commitment to the groups I'm involved in is there - whether I attend the show or not.


I appreciate the effort Batman put forth. He stepped up and got the group rate for the hotel. He pushed and promoted the show. And some responded. And some didn't. I myself wasn't able to commit to the show until the past week, and I missed the group rate cutoff. It happens. And now, with less than 30 days, hotel options get fewer and fewer. I have a problem with paying lots of money for a hotel room that I wouldn't pay an hourly rate for. So I searched and found an acceptable location for me. Turns out that hotel is now booked full.


This year, that is the biggest factor for most. It'll be almost $300 in fuel alone for me. I can still make that commitment and plan on doing so. If someone else can't, so be it - I'm not gonna look down of someone because of it.

Since we know the dates for the 2009 show already, I'll be checking out hotels and trying to set up group rates before I leave the show. Of course, that's no guarantee that people will take advantage of it. But at least the effort will be made.

It's a shame that folks feel this way.

I mean, a hotel group rate was obtained, the event was promoted - what more was there to do but have people commit to attending?

Everyone's got a reason. Not everyone can make the show. It's always been that way. All I can tell you is that, barring any major issues that crop up in 20 days, I'll be there.

and beth has explained her reasonings plenty of times the last couple years. she shouldn't have to keep on explaining it to everyone. if someone don't wanna stay at the same hotel, that their choice. no need to get bent out of shape over it. you can still see and visit them at the show

As a LONG time ASOG (started there) ASEC (now here) member ,and probably the first Token White Guy..LOL I do miss the old M&G/Show to a certain extent and I'm not saying this because I won every year with the Venge...Yea there was drama just about every year but we all are older now and that drama stuff gets played after awhile...So I can understand why some of us are staying at different Hotels...Granted most of our Original members don't even drive Venge or Brings anymore(I still do ) but we still have fun at shows,M&Gs and/or on the Forums..I still get along with everybody on ASEC and enjoy being around so my next question is WHERE are the majority staying...I have two options so I'm trying to narrow down to one.. Stay with the LX(magnum,charger,300) members or the FJ(Venge/Bring)members...

Well, this year we hooked up with Allpar - and Allpar covers ALL the models - so there you go.

Seriously - there are 16 hours in the day to fill up - plenty of time to see, meet, and hang with more than one group.

My mom is having a minor surgery the fri before this and i am going to be by her side. It is noting major but she is one of those types that blow everything out of proportion, and will turn a minor surgery into a fing major operation.

Oh, and for those who didn't notice Wolvie removing the maybe for me, I am a 100% definite attendee now. I won't have the car or the dak there as fuel prices from the SW are just way too inhibitive, but I am flying to OH and Wolvie is picking me up at the airport as I can get a plane ticket there for cheap enough to make it (hell, about half of what the drive was going to cost in the truck as I won't have the car done by the end of this week).
